Another trip to SJ

This past weekend we headed over to San Jose again. This time we went because our friend Joel was in town and because Kevin ran the Silicon Valley Half Marathon on Sunday morning. Friday night we spent the night at John and Brenda's, where the boys had way too much fun hanging out in the backyard Friday night and Brenda and I had a great time catching up. There is always lots to chat about when we get together.

Ethan loved "riding" Uncle John's bike. I hope this is the most riding he does on a motorcycle for a long time!

Saturday afternoon we headed over to Dave and Janie's house and had lunch with them and their kids. We got to play at the park with them as well. They live in the same complex we used to live in, so it was fun to take Ethan to the park by our old house. We are so blessed to have Dave and Janie as friends. We always pick up where we left off and end up discussing many of lifes issues. Thanks for your friendship guys and the great parenting you model for us!

The picture above is the only good picture I got from our weekend with the Sacks', but below is a picture of our four kids when they came to visit us in July.

Sunday morning Dave brought Kevin downtown to start the race nice and early. Ethan and I went to Los Gatos to see the boys cross the finish line. They both did really well and finished close to their goals. Good job Kevin and Joel!

Unfortunately I pulled my camera out just before Kevin crossed the finish line and the batteries were dead. So the best pictures I got was the guys posing with their medals.

It was awesome to see you guys again! Again I must say that Friday night was seriously a blast. John and I were commenting on how much we appreciated you letting Kevin be an idiot with us! I love the dynamics.

John + beer = What's new? (Manliness Hilarity)

Kevin + beer + friends = Unexpectedness (Hilarious comments)

Joel + beer + friends = Copious amounts of laughter

Good times. I'm just glad I get to come along for the ride every once in awhile. Sometimes I really think we should re-vist the idea of starting our own school. Serious. Kevin can be the principal, we could get maybe Lyndsay and Brenda and Jen to be teachers. I could be the crazy gardener that always tells the sports teams what's wrong, but is never right. John can test the water (as long as we can keep him from asking the kids what their favorite beer is). Al can be the painter / maintenance man! It all works out.

That said I have to say that Ethan is pretty much the coolest kid I have met besides my own nephews! And I'm not just saying that because you're my friends. I was never a huge fan of curly hair until I met him - he pulls it off nicely and I'm really curious to see how big the fro can get!

I LOVE the lion!

(We will get him out riding a motorcycle as soon as he can reach the gas and we can strap blocks on his feet! He makes John's bike look like a HUGE Harley! Hahaha. Awesome.)

I don't much to say about the grandma thing except that that is cool. Not many people get to meet their great grand kids (and vice versa)...although that is changing. I like the two infants in the same jumpers in the front with blank stares and the fact that EJ is attention deficit!

Until next time...
