Ethan John, it is hard to believe that 7 years ago you made me a mom. SEVEN years I have been your mommy...that is so hard to believe! I will say that you have given me more joy and more frustration than I have ever experienced in my life. God has used you to show me my own weaknesses, sins and struggles. He has also used you to show me the little things in life and the caring heart of a little boy. For all of it I am thankful and today we celebrated you!
You love sports of all kinds. This was your first year in t-ball/baseball. You loved it and did great. Your passion right now is golf. You seem to have a natural knack for it and it is fun to watch you grow and develop the skills you need for that sport. You are very competitive within yourself so golf is a great sport for you as you try to constantly improve your own score. You also have your daddy's mind for sports stats...you know all kinds of players and teams and scores and points and lots of stuff I don't understand:)
You and Morgan continue to be best buddies and worst enemies. It was fun to watch you this year as you and she missed each other when you were away at school. You also really enjoy crafts and putting things together. You love to follow directions, but have a hard time just creating something. You had a great year in school. You are reading chapter books like crazy, improving on your writing (when you want to take your time) and loving math (again that's from your daddy!).
Your brother Hudson is becoming your little shadow. He adores you and loves to play with you. As he gets older I know you two will spend hours playing sports and wrestling. This summer you have finally been able to play together in the pool. It is fun to watch. You are also super sweet with Brooklyn and really like to take care of her.
This year marked the loss of THREE more teeth, we are still waiting for two to grow back in!
The older you get Ethan the more important friends become to you. Here you are with Mason on our camping trip last week. You have a great time with him, as well as your buddy Trey. I think those are your two closest friends, but you have a whole group you like to play with at school.
Your daddy and I are proud of the little boy you are becoming. You have a kind and compassionate spirit when you want to. You also have a strong and determined spirit when you want to and we pray that with the help of God we can mold that spirit to do great things. I am excited to see how you grow and develop this year as a big second grader. We love you buddy and pray that you continue to follow Jesus and love him more each day.

Happy Birthday, Ethan! I remember that day we got the phone call with the great news 7 years ago. Just missed my bday by a few days. John was so glad that his middle name was named after him...we'll just let him think that.
Thus begins the next couple months of birthdays in your house!
I too remember that phone call so clearly! Can't believe it's been 7 years! You are so special to me Ethan! I love you!
