Big Boy Bed

The last few weeks we (ok Kevin) have been working on painting Ethan's new room, moving our "office" into our bedroom, and setting up his new big boy bed. We got a great set of bunk beds given to us by a school family. We're using one now and we'll store the other one until we need it. We have been talking to Ethan about his new bed and bedroom for a couple weeks. He was the most excited I have ever seen him the day he woke up from his nap and I had the bed made with the new car/truck sheets. With all his excitement, we anticipated the move being a pretty smooth one. Well, Mr. Ethan had other feelings on the subject. He is not too excited about his big boy bed. The first night I had to sit with him until he fell asleep, and then he was in our room at 5:28 the next morning. Since then every nap and bedtime he cries when we leave him in there. Last night I was startled awake at 1:00 with the feeling of someone watching me..sure enough Ethan was standing next to our bed. Talk about weird. Thankfully I just walked him back to his room and he went right back to sleep. We are hoping that this is just a transitional phase, and not some new habits. This is all coming from a little boy who used to LOVE going to bed in his crib and was never in a rush to get out in the morning. I guess it is good we're making this transition a couple months before baby comes.
Still excited to be crawling into his bed for the first time.
Reading books with mommy.

I wish I could have truck/car sheets. He will long for the day wen he gets to have cool sheets and any side of the bed he wants. I am sure he will get used to it, but it may take some tough love from daddyo.

Hey you got your bunk beds! Don't you love how the top one acts as the perfect toddler bed complete with railing?

But oh, the battle of the big kid bed! Maybe Ethan is just getting you prepared for all the early/middle-of-the-night waking you'll do with the baby. :)

Good luck,
Jen VM

Waking up to someone watching you is so creepy! I think it's hilarious that he looks like he is having the time of his life in all the pictures but behind the scenes it's a different story. Hahaha

I pretty sure John WOULD actually have car/truck/tool/wild animal/gun/beer sheets if they actually made them for beds the size of a small country (California Kings).
