Haircut and Crawling

Just a little update on the kids. I brought Ethan in for a much needed haircut the other day. He could almost get his hair cut every two weeks, it grows so fast and he gets so hot and itchy. The first time he sat on my lap while the stylist cut his hair, but the last two times he was a brave boy and wanted to sit by himself. He got to pick a sucker this time for sitting so nice. He did awesome, he just sits and smiles at himself in the mirror and answers her questions. I was impressed. Here are some pictures of him thoroughly enjoying his sucker and showing off his new haircut.

Morgan is officially crawling and getting around all over the house. She is now discovering how to find us in other rooms too. She pulls up on anything and still puts everything in her mouth. She hasn't discovered how to open cupboard doors or drawers yet, but it's only a matter of time. It's fun to watch her explore her world.

College Roomie Weekend Getaway

This weekend I had the privilege of getting away for 3 nights to hang out with my college roommates. We met at my parent's house in Pebble Beach. It was perfect because we had free lodging and we cooked most of our meals, so the girls really just had to pay airfare. I was amazed that it worked out for all 7 of us to come. Tonja came from Iowa, Mary came from Montana, Molly and Jackie came from Colorado and Charissa and Renee came up from Southern California. We had such a fabulous time talking, laughing, and crying. We were able to share how God has blessed us and how he is challenging us. It was such a blessing for us to get together and pick right up where we left off. The last time we were all together was in 2004 for Charissa's wedding. We watched some videos from college and looked at pictures. We realized that we really have gotten a little older and we were pretty crazy in college. It is a time in our lives that we all agreed we would go back to if we could.

We didn't do a whole lot during the weekend, mostly just talking, eating, and sleeping in. Here are a few photos from our weekend. Thanks again ladies for a great time!


Out for dinner in Carmel. Charissa brought her 9 month old son Macaiah along. He was a great baby, we hardly noticed he was there.



The non California girls had to run in the ocean, "like on Baywatch," even though it was barely 60 degrees outside. Us CA girls just watched and took pictures:)

Sunday night some of us went to hear the bagpiper and get drinks.

Another almost group shot. Jackie came out with her husband, daughter and a couple other friends, so she spent Sunday with them in San Fransisco. We missed you Jackie!

Here's all of us, plus Jackie's daughter Lydia. We spent several hours around the kitchen table. I think every meal turned into a 2 hour chat time.

Kevin graciously held down the fort while I was gone. It was the first time he had both kids for that long of a period. He did great and I know the kids had a good time. I was sure ready to see my babies when I got home!

Morgan Update

Morgan is getting more and more mobile by the day. She has figured out how to go from her tummy to sitting up, she can scoot around using her little army crawl, she tries to crawl on all fours, but usually just plops on her tummy, and just last night she figured out how to pull herself up to a standing position. Ethan is learning how to put some of his toys out of her reach and I am learning to watch her a little more closely. She has certainly been more content the last week or so now that she has figured out how to move on her own. She was starting to get so frustrated that the rest of us were busily walking around her, leaving her behind. I'm also borrowing a walker which she is enjoying. Here are a few pictures of our little sweetheart.

This morning while I was getting breakfast ready she had pulled herself up like this by the couch. Now she's really hot stuff!

The Dairy

On Friday the kids and I went to visit a dairy with MOMS Club. As soon as we got out of our cars the wife of the dairy owner told us to hurry over because a calf was being born. It was pretty amazing to see. We watched them pull the calf out and then we watched as the calf tried to take his first steps.

Ethan's cheesy grin he has started doing for me when I ask him to smile. At least he cooperates and smiles for me:)

Checking out Frankie the baby calf. They had a whole little barn set up for the calves. There were probably about 50 babies. They have bottles of water that they drink out of and a lot of the kids got a chance to hold the bottle for the calves. Ethan tried but the calves were never interested in his offer.

Ethan gets the biggest smiles and the most laughs out of Morgan. They are buds.

100th Post

Wow, this is my 100th post. It is hard to believe I have been blogging that long! We haven't had much going on over here, just life. But it has been a couple weeks since I posted and I know there are a few of you who check this daily for pictures of the kiddos, so I thought I'd better get some new pictures up here.

This is what you get when you ask a 2 1/2 year old to smile.

My Gerber daisies. I know, not the kiddos, but I thought the picture turned out pretty cool and I'm just excited that these flowers are still alive after this winter.

This is how Morgan plays with her babies. She loves to chew on their extremities and heads.

Mission accomplished: Card in the mouth.

Morgan grabs anything and everything now and if it makes it in her hands it will make it to her mouth. She is a determined little girl and a noisy one too. I'm in trouble when she starts walking. Ethan and Morgan are having more fun playing together. Ethan really loves his little sister and can't wait until she can wrestle with him.

Before I finish this post I have an Ethan story for you.

Today we were walking up the driveway after getting the mail and Ethan saw a snail. Our conversation when like this:

E: "A snail, should I smash him?"

M: "No, just leave him, he's ok there."

E: Smashes the snail with his foot and then bends down to investigate. "Oh no, I smashed God's creature."

M: "Yeah, you did"

E: "Oh, that's sad. God is sad. I'm sorry. I'm sorry God for smashing your creature"

It is amazing to me to listen to his train of thought, and believe me I think he speaks everything he thinks. Ethan absorbs EVERYTHING and seems to comprehend most of it. I love that he wants to talk about God and Jesus. It is so fun to see faith through the eyes of a child.
