Spring Break

We were blessed to be able to spend a whole week in Monterey over Easter. On Thursday we headed over with my whole family. The guys got some golfing in and the girls got pampered at the spa. My parents left on Saturday night and then Kara and Eric left on Sunday. Ethan had a great time being spoiled and loved by everyone. He was in the middle of a nasty cold and was on steroids, so he wasn't quite himself, but we had fun anyways. Kevin, Ethan and I enjoyed a quiet day and night by ourselves on Sunday and then our friends Keith and Karrie joined us with their 2 boys. We had a great time with them as well. The boys loved the ocean and lots of time outside!
Here are a few pictures of our week.
In the tree with Nana.

Learning to dig in the sand and get the sand in the bucket! This was the first of many trips to the beach. We made it to the ocean once a day day, sometimes twice. Ethan was constantly talking about the "ocean" "rocks" "crash"(that's what the waves do). He was in heaven and could have spent all day out at the ocean.

Fun with Auntie Kara.

Checking out the ocean with Uncle Eric.

No trip to Monterey would be complete without hearing and seeing the bag piper. We actually made it there twice. Once Eric, Kara, Kevin and I went. Ethan stayed with Nana and Papa. It was great to chill by the fire with some drinks and calamari. The next night we took Ethan and he loved seeing the bag piper, he clapped after every song. Kevin took this great picture of the guy playing.

Throwing rocks with daddy. Ethan could throw rocks into the water for hours.

Checking out the crab.

More rock throwing!

Chillin' with daddy in the backyard.

On Tuesday morning we decided to take a break from the ocean. We went to a Monarch Sanctuary, where unfortunately there were only 3 monarchs spotted. So we headed over to the Dennis the Mennis park in Monterey. It is an awesome park, Ethan loved it and will love it even more the older he gets.

With daddy in the "chugga chugga". They have an old engine there that kids can climb and play on.
On the bridge with mommy.
Here are Kevin and Ethan with Caleb, Keith and Eli,throwing rocks into the ocean. The boys had a blast exploring God's creation.
It was a wonderful week, but we were ready to be home too. Now Kevin is busy working on a sand box for Ethan. I'll post pictures when he finishes.

Quick Trip to San Jose

A couple weekends back we took a quick trip to San Jose. It's taken me a while to get the pictures off our camera, so I'm finally posting about it now. We visited with our friends John and Brenda who were house sitting at a very nice home in the Los Gatos hills. We spent the night there and had a great time as usual, unfortunately there are no pictures of our time with them.

On Saturday we headed over to see Zach and Macaire, their son Ben and their new baby. It took us 3 months to meet James, but we finally got out there to see them. Dave, Janie, Anna, Carter and Megan also met us there for a tasty lunch. Great Job Macaire! It was so great to see these friends again too. They are the kind of friends that allow us to just pick up where we left off. We can be who we are and they love us for it. It was a refreshing afternoon filled with conversation and laughs. Thanks friends!

Holding baby James, such a little peanut!

The kiddos eating lunch, Ethan had a great time with his big friends.
