Easter Egg Hunt

These are tulips from the bouquet of tulips Kevin bought me for my birthday.

Last week Wednesday I had a few friends over with their kids and we had a little Easter party. Between the 7 of us we have 10 boys and 2 girls, and my sister was there with Annika, so that brought our girl total up to 3. The boys all had a blast playing in the dirt and looking for eggs. This was Ethan's second Easter egg hunt and he really got into it. After everyone left Kara watched the kids for me while I tutored and Ethan made her hide the eggs again so he could find them again. It was pretty fun to watch.

Morgan and Reece playing together. It's a good thing they have each other with all the boys around!

Ethan stared at this egg from every angle. He couldn't believe someone put the egg on his baseball tee.

All the kids, minus 2 who had to leave early. Note Jared on the right side who was way more into his candy than holding his brother, or looking at the camera.

On an unrelated note. Here is Morgan posing for her 31 week picture. It is hard to believe she is getting so big! This week will be week 33!

Surprise!

My wonderful husband totally outdid himself this year for my birthday. Last year when I turned 29 I warned him that next year I would be turning the BIG 3-0 and I expected something bigger than a card and bouquet of flowers. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE when he gets me flowers, but I just felt like turning 30 deserved something big. Well, I wasn't expecting the party he threw for me.

On Friday, March 27 we had called a babysitter to come because we had our Young Couples Bible study that night. During the day he called me and said he ran into our babysitter at school and asked her to come early so we could grab dinner before Bible study. The sitter was supposed to arrive at 6:00 and when it was 6:15 and she finally got there and Kevin still wanted to go to a sit down restaurant for dinner before our 7:00 bible study I started to get a little suspicious. But I was puzzled what he had planned because I didn't think he would cancel Bible study. Well he did! When we arrived at the restaurant we headed over to the bar because "we can get in and out faster at the bar". But Kevin bypassed the bar and opened the door to their private room and there were 26 of our friends waiting to say surprise! It was a great night. I felt very loved and it was fun to spend the evening with so many friends. Thanks Honey!

Not the most flattering picture of me, but I wanted to include it because it was a surprise and because you can see Kevin talking to someone in the background. There was a lady right outside the room and when we walked up to the door she said "Are you looking for the surprise party?" And then when I walked in Kevin said "Yeah, it's for her!" I guess the lady felt pretty stupid the rest of the night.

The beautiful table. We had appetizers (some of my favorites) and Kevin had selected 2 salad and 4 entree options for everyone. It was yummy!

Enjoying some drinks.
Thanks Kevin for loving me and throwing me a great 30th birthday party!

The Driving Range

Since Morgan has had a few posts dedicated to her, I thought I should write a post about my son. Ethan was introduced to the driving range about a month ago. Kevin took him to the course around the corner from our house and he LOVED it! Kevin taught him all the rules about staying in one place and staying out of the way of the other golfers. He even took him on the putting green and taught him how to hit "gentle." Since then he has gone a few more times with Kevin and has also gone with my parents to their country club. He apparently draws quite a crowd and loves to chat with the old guys. I finally made it out last weekend with him to take a couple pictures. Here he is, the next Tiger:)
Every time he hit a ball he would say, "Did you see that?"
He even made a couple in the holes on the putting green.
I suspect many hours will be spent on the golf course this summer.

Meeting my niece

This weekend I was finally able to go down to San Diego to meet my niece Annika. She is a beautiful little sweetheart and I got lots of cuddling time with her. Morgan had fun meeting her cousin. She gave Annika pretty strange looks when she would start to cry. I think Morgan enjoyed all the attention she got too, without her big brother around.

Morgan had fun checking out Annika and her chair.
Above is a picture of the girls' first photo shoot. I love how "grown up and protective" Morgan looks. She did surprisingly well "holding" Annika.

Photo shoot number two. Mo decided to "kiss" aka eat Annika's head. She didn't think her hair tasted too good.

Good thing Uncle was around. Morgan missed rough housing with her boys at home.
Uncle Eric watched the girls while Kara and I got ready Sunday morning. He needed a binki to cope with the situation too:)
I can't wait to watch these girls grow up together. I know they'll be great friends! Thanks for a fun weekend guys!

Growing and Changing

I know most of my pictures lately have been of Morgan, but she is just growing and changing so much these days that I have to capture it. Ethan looks the same, most of his changes have to do with his vocabulary and attitude these days. He is nearing the dreaded 3 that I've heard is the new 2, so we're having to "consistently guide him" lately. It sure is exhausting!
I think this was the first week she paid any attention to the fact that there was a bear sitting next to her for her picture.
Morgan is now sitting up pretty well on her own. I will still only have her sit on carpet, and I'm usually on the floor with her. She will occasionally topple over still. She loves this new view of the world.
Welcome home daddy! Kevin was at science camp for a week and we ALL missed him a lot. I am so thankful to have a husband who is so involved with the kids. Every night when he gets home, even when he is exhausted he plays with the kids and helps with bath and bedtime. I was exhausted every night he was gone having to do it myself. After he got home he was holding both the kids and Ethan said, "You should get a picture of this." :) I guess he's heard me say that a few times.

Theology

The other night at dinner our conversation went something like this:

E: Is it Christmas yet?
M: No not yet, but it's almost Easter.
E: What's Easter?
M: Easter is the day that Jesus rose from the grave after he died for our sins.
E: Oh, what sins?
M: Sins are things we do that aren't very nice. Like when you yell at mommy and daddy or hit mommy and daddy.
E: When I hit daddy and mommy I say FORE!

So much for my theology lesson.

I thought I would do another picture update. Not a whole lot going on over here for us. We are trying to get outside to enjoy the sunshine, in between the rain showers. Kevin is busy now with guys varsity golf. They have unfortunately had 2 games cancelled due to the rain, so that's a bummer. Kevin had his first HOLE IN ONE the other day when he and his guys were playing a practice round. He was pretty excited about that. He was glad it was at a course that doesn't have a bar so he didn't have to buy drinks for everyone...just his team. (and he bought them soda, just to clarify).
Last weekend was the annual Almond Blossom Festival. I had good intentions of getting the kids out into an orchard to take pictures, because the trees are just so beautiful this time of year, but I didn't make it. Maybe next year. The only picture I have is this one of Ethan and I watching the parade. It was my first time at the parade in over 10 years and I'm pretty sure nothing much has changed. A lot of horses, some bands, some old cars, and a few clowns. Ethan thought it was pretty cool though and it was fun to be out watching it with friends.
Miss Morgan is becoming quite the little personality lately. She now knows how to make herself known in our house..."talk" really loud. She loves to hear her voice. She is working on sitting up and has recently discovered her toes. It is really fun to watch her interact with us more. She also knows when Ethan isn't around, she'll just look around the room like something is missing.
Notice the curl on top of her head. If I had a dollar for everyone who asked me, "Will she have curly hair like her brother?" I'd be a rich lady.
Still smiling, even on her way down:) Don't worry I caught her before she hit the floor.
