Ethan, like any little boy, LOVES trucks. We have a truck book and he can point to all the different trucks, excavators, backhoes, firetrucks....you name it, he can usually find it. We have to make sure that if we are home around 12:30 on Thursdays that we make it outside to wave to the garbage man and around 8:00 am on Mondays the recycling guy gets a wave. It is all very exciting to an 18 month old, better than Disneyland. A bonus for Ethan is that our neighbor and friend Rex is a mailman. Everyday he drives his truck home and has lunch. If we're outside playing we definitely have to walk down the street to check out the mail truck. When he sees a mail truck in his books he says "Reca" which, translated, means "Rex's truck." Yesterday, Ethan had the priviledge of sitting in the mail truck to have his picture taken, by himself and with Rex. Thanks Rex for making a little boy's day!

I came upon your blog thru your comment on Jim Schaap's blog. It was good catching up with your family. What a cute, cute little boy! I would say you are blessed and so is Ethan to have you as parents. We have 2 g'daughters. Sara has Logan (2) and Steve has Gretchen (just 2). What a joy! I no longer work at Dordt Admissions (retired -but I'm really not that old :) I also attend BSF. Hope our paths cross sometime.

Lyndsay...seriously. A mail truck? What? That is barely even considered a 'truck'. It's like a oversized European mini-van with more storage (and a male soccer mom driver).
I think Ethan deserves at least a cement truck or a backhoe! jk

Hi, I happen to google the name Ethan Schenk, because that's my son's name and found your son. I just thought you might like to know another one exists! He's 16 1/2...and I'm not sure who Eric is in your blog, but my husband is Eric and that's Ethan's middle name. Small world huh? Enjoy him now...life goes quickly!!
